Our History


New Premier College of Health Science and Technology, Dass, was established in 2014 with the aim of contributing to the development of competent and well-trained healthcare professionals through quality health sciences and technology education. The institution is committed to providing students with sound academic knowledge, practical skills and professional values needed to contribute effectively to healthcare delivery and community development.

Over time, the College has continued to focus on quality teaching, practical training, professionalism and community service, providing an educational environment where students can develop the knowledge, skills and character required for successful careers in the health sector.

Gen. Yakubu Usman

Proprietor

Major-General Yakubu Usman (Rtd.) is a distinguished Nigerian military officer and respected leader from Dass, born on 28 August 1950. He attended Government Secondary School, Bauchi, before proceeding to the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, where he received Regular Combatant training and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in June 1974.Throughout his distinguished career in the Nigerian Army, he held several strategic command and leadership positions, including Commanding Officer, 123 Battalion, ECOMOG; Adjutant, Nigerian Defence Academy; Garrison Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison; Military Adviser, Nigerian Embassy, Cotonou, Republic of Benin; and Military Secretary (Army), Army Headquarters, Abuja.His life and career embody discipline, leadership, integrity, service, and commitment to excellence. These values continue to inspire the pursuit of quality education and professional development at New Premier College of Health Science and Technology, Dass.

Sule Madugu

Provost

Mr. Sule Madugu is a seasoned Community and Public Health Practitioner, educator, and administrator with extensive experience in healthcare delivery, public health, academic training, and institutional management.He hails from Gwaram Takari, Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State, and was born into the family of the late Alhaji Adamu Madugu. He received his early education in Gwaram and Misau before proceeding to the School of Health Technology, Gombe, where he trained as a Community Health Extension Worker. He later obtained a DECHO Certificate from the College of Health Technology, Zawan, Jos, and furthered his education with a B.Sc. in Health Education from the University of Maiduguri and an M.Sc. in Community Health, specialising in Epidemiology and Community Health, from the University of Ilorin.Mr. Madugu has served in various clinical, academic, and public health capacities, including as a Lecturer at the College of Health Technology, Ningi, and in Primary Health Care and Community Health Services. He has also held senior management positions, including Deputy Director of Public Health and Director of Primary Health Care and Community Health Services, and has collaborated with several development partners in immunisation, disease surveillance, community mobilisation, training, and public health programmes.At New Premier College of Health Science and Technology, Dass, he brings his wealth of professional and leadership experience to promote quality health education, academic excellence, professionalism, and the training of competent healthcare professionals.

Dahiru Aliyu Tafida

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Dahiru Aliyu Tafida is an administrator and institutional leader who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of New Premier College of Health Science and Technology, Dass. He hails from Lere, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.His educational journey began at Waziri Mazadu Primary School, Dass, where he studied from 1992 to 1997 and obtained his Primary School Certificate. He subsequently attended GJSS Dass, later known as GDSS Dass, from 1997 to 2003, where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with credits.In 2003, he gained admission into the then Bauchi State College of Arts and Science (BACAS), later known as Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), to study Public Administration, graduating in 2005. In his pursuit of further academic development, he proceeded to Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG) from 2021 to 2025, where he obtained a B.Sc. in Public Administration.As CEO of the College, Mr. Tafida provides strategic leadership and direction towards the institution's growth and development. He is committed to promoting academic excellence, discipline, professionalism, innovation, and character development.His vision is to help establish New Premier College of Health Science and Technology, Dass as a reputable institution providing quality and accessible health science education while producing competent, ethical, and responsible health professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to healthcare development in Nigeria.

Sarki Turba Dukurma

Registrar

Sarki Turba Dukurma is a seasoned health administrator, public servant, and institutional leader with extensive experience in primary healthcare delivery, health education, and institutional management.Born in 1968 in Lukshi Village, Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, into the family of the late Turba Dukurma (Sarkin Yalwan Lukshi III), he began his education at Lukshi Primary School and subsequently attended Government Teachers College, Toro; School of Health Technology, Gombe; University of Jos; University College Hospital, Ibadan; and Kwara State University, Malete.Throughout his career, Sarki Dukurma has served in various capacities within the health sector, including at the College of Health Technology, Ningi, and in Alkaleri Local Government Area. He previously served as Director of Primary Health Care Authority, where he provided leadership in policy implementation, health-system strengthening, and community health programmes, contributing to improved maternal and child health, immunisation, and disease prevention at the grassroots level.As Registrar of New Premier College of Health Science and Technology, Dass, he brings valuable experience in administration, governance, records management, and regulatory compliance. He is committed to promoting academic excellence, discipline, professionalism, and quality health education, while supporting the College's mission of producing competent, ethical, and community-focused health professionals.He holds professional qualifications in Health Management, Environmental Health Science, Physiology and Pharmacology, Public Health, and Environmental Health Education.
